Description
Honeycomb comes straight from the bees, they even cap and seal the comb themselves. We simply slice it off the wooden frame and deliver it to your table. This gourmet honeycomb derives from a range of floral sources native to southeast Georgia, consisting of mainly gallberry with some tupelo, black gum, and palmetto flowers. It is unique in its natural flavor and does not crystallize quickly, giving it a longer shelf life compared to the average comb honey. This Raw Comb Honey comes in a BPA-free plastic container. One 4″ x 4″ square of the most natural state of honey available.
Comb honey is the rawest form of honey available. It is taken directly from the beehive and never extracted, but instead left in the natural state – sealed within the beeswax honeycomb. In this form, the honey itself has never been touched by humans. It is raw, unfiltered, unheated, and pure honey. Comb honey is a premium product and sells at a premium price compared to other forms of honey.
To consume the honeycomb it can either be crushed to release the precious nectar or it can be consumed whole with the beeswax. Eating the beeswax will not harm you. It doesn’t have much flavor itself, but can be a challenge to chew and swallow. My favorite way to use a honeycomb is to spread it with a knife on hot toast. The heat of the toast softens the wax and makes it more palatable. It also goes great with a cheese plate sliced into small pieces.
